Recap The Department of Education and Early Learning Director Duane Chappelle and Impact Director Ismael Fajardo presented an overview of DEAL's mission, goals, and investments to the city council. Chappelle highlighted DEAL's focus on early learning, K-12, and post-secondary programs. He outlined DEAL's priorities including expanding preschool, equity and anti-racism, youth mental health, and operational excellence. The council also considered appointments and reappointments to the Community Involvement Commission. Staff liaisons Laura Jenkins and Alvin Edwards provided background and introduced the nominees Julio Perez, Martha Lucas, Awa Kone, and Heidi Morissette. The committee voted unanimously to recommend confirmation of the appointments.
